4-30-16 Ringwood Five Way Meet

Meet with Ringwood, Faith, Abundant Life, Ambassador and Trinity.  Our girls won the meet and our boys were third.  Full results have now been received and are below.

On the track, our athletes had 27 individual performances, and 21 of those were Personal Records (PRs).  Here are the PRs for the day:  Kendall Larrier in 200 and 100 Hurdles; Abigail Harris in 200; Athina Sifonios in 200 and 400; Riley Como in 800 and 1600; Kaitlyn Yany in 800 and 1600; Kimberly Kempff in 1600; Lloyd Suh in 100 and 1600; Lucas Gaitan in 100 and 200; Stephen Markowiec in 400; George Sifonios in 400; David Zecca in 800; Zach Martone in 800 and 1600 (PR by over 15 seconds!);Danny Gao in 800 and 1600.

Wins for Kendall Larrier in 100 Hurdles (plus seconds in 100 and 200!); Riley Como in 800 and 1600; Lloyd Suh in the 800.  Girls 800 and 1600 we took 1-2-3 (Riley Como, Kaitlyn Yany and Kimberly Kempff).  Kendall Larrier scored 22 points, Riley Como had 17, Kaitlyn Yany scored 15, Abigail Harris 10 and Kimberly Kempf 9 (each includes relay points).  Lloyd Suh scored 16 for the boys and Stephen Markowiec, who had a very good day, scored 12.  George Sifonios scored 9 points for the team.

4-26-16 MACSA JUNIOR HIGH

The threatening weather never materialized, and our Junior High teams performed well at MACSA at Messiah College.  Our girls team finished second, and our boys finished eighth.

Leading the scoring for our girls team was Riley Como, who won the 1600 and finished 2nd in the 800 (18 points).  Kendall Larrier scored 14 points in the 100, 200 and 100 hurdles. Stephanie Buckley scored 12 finishing third in both the 800 and 1600, and Kaitlyn Yany came in second in the 1600 and sixth in the 400 for 11 points.  Abigail Harris and Kimberly Kempf each scored 5, coming in fourth in the 400 and 800, respectively.  Kimberly's 800 was our performance of the day, being a PR of over thirty seconds!

PRs for the girls included Kimberly Kempf in the 800 as noted above, and in the 100, Kendall Larrier in the 100 and 100 hurdles, Athina Sifonios in the 200 and 400, Kaitlyn Yany in the 400 and 1600, Riley Como in the 800 and 1600, Abigail Harris in the 100, and Stephanie Buckley in the 800.

In the boys' meet, Lloyd Suh was the star of the day, winning the 800 and placing 5th in the 1600 (14 points).  Stephen Markowiec scored in the 400 and discus, Ben Genberg in the 400, and both our relay teams scored as well.

Personal records for Lloyd Suh in the 1600, Lucas Gaitan in the 200, David Zecca in the 800, and Stephen Markowiec in the discus.

4-27-16 MACSA SENIOR HIGH

TCS Girls Win MACSA Invitational at Messiah College.

 A remarkable finish to this meet, as our girls team of six athletes win the meet on the last event of the meet. Going into the last two events we were in second to our friends from Meadowbrook, 102-99. We won the 4x400 relay with Meadowbrook second to bring the team scores to within 1 at 110-109. We thought that was the final score and someone said that the discus was still going on. Michaela Buckley came in third in that event, and the girl from Meadowbrook in the event was 5th, making the final score Trinity 115, Meadowbrook 112. 

Many individual and team highlights. Lydia Harris won the 100, 200 and 400 and was on the winning 4x400 team (a total of 32.5 points). Alison Champagne won the 800, 1600 and 3200 and was also on the 4x400 relay team (also 32.5 points). Morgan Brevard was second in the 1600 and third in the 800 and 3200, and was on the 4x1 team (21 points). Michaela Buckley took 2 thirds, and was on our 4th place team in the 4x100 including the meet winning performance in the discus (13 points). Anne Thomas scored 12.5, taking second in the 100, 6th in the 200 and was on both relay teams. Grace Markowiec scored on both relay teams as well.  Our girls won every event on the track except the 4x100 relay.

Personal records for Alison Champagne in the 800, Morgan Brevard in the 3200, Michaela Buckley in the Shot Put.

TCS Boys Battle to Third 

Down to six boys for this meet, the TCS Boys performed above expectations to come in third at MACSA. Initially reported as 4th the day of the meet, we discovered a mistake in the results posted which gave us four more points to jump over Abundant Life into third. 

Ian Stempert led the way with 15 points (second in 400 and 3rd in 800,and as a member of the 4x400 relay team). Jurgen Lipps was our only individual winner, taking the Shot Put in a new personal record for 10 points. Matt Zecca scored 12, 3rd in 3200, 4th in 1600 and 6th in 800, plus the 4x400 relay. Josh Batista scored 13, taking second in the discus and 4th in the javelin, and as also in the 4x400. Charlie Mills scored in both the 3200 and the 4x400 relay (5 points).  

Personal records included Jurgen in the Shot Put, Ian Stempert in the 400, Matt Zecca and Charlie Mills in the 3200, and Josh Batista in the Javelin.

4-19-16 JHS Quad Meet hosted by Sussex Christian

Nice windy day up in Sussex Coounty at High Point Regional HS for a Quad meet with host Sussex Christian, Northwest Christian and Sparta Middle School.

Girls 1600 was highlight with Riley Como winning the 1600 in 6:25.9, closely followed by Kaitlyn Yany (6:43.0) and Stephanie Buckley (6:45.9).  Kaitlyn also ran a 1:16.4 in her debut at that distance, with Riley running a 2:59.8 800.

Stephen Markowiec continues to impress with a 84-5 discus, and good runs in 200 and 400.

Lloyd Suh with two PRs in 800 and 1600.

Three way meet at Blair Academy with Hackettstown.  Beautiful day.
Performance of the Meet:  Matt Zecca with a HUGE PR of 5:19.0 in the 1600.
Other highlights:
Morgan Brevard with another PR in 1600 in 6:17.6
Ian Stempert 2:16.9 in 800 and 57.9 split in 4x4 relay.
Alison Champagne 6:04.7 in the 1600.
Lydia Harris 13.8/28.9 and two good legs in relays,
Anne Thomas 13.9/29.3 and good 4x1 relay leg.
Grace Markowiec 73.5 in 400/31.9 in 200 and another 73 in the 4x4 relay.

A windy day for the first high school meet of the year.  Good day in sunshine but very windy, affecting every race 400 and up negatively.

Charlie Mills in his first meet had a huge 30 second PR in the 1600.

Big PR for Morgan Brevard in the 1600.

PRACTICE CANCELED SATURDAY APRIL 9

The forecast for tomorrow is 35 degrees and snow/rain at 8:30.  We are going to cancel the practice as we believe it might be hazardous to get to TCS and obviously not great for training.  Almost every meet scheduled in New Jersey has been canceled or postponed.

Distance runners and 800 runners:  If you could do a long run at some point during the day (once it is warmer) it would be good.  60-75 minutes easy pace, a pace at which you could talk while running.  Sprinters would be well served to do an afternoon workout as well along the lines of what we have been doing.
