Three meet records for Josiah Hanko in the 800, 1600 and 3200.  Six more points than predicted for Jonathan Campbell (a third and a fourth for ten points).  Both our relay teams (4x800 Ben, Andrew, Iain and Dan; 4x100 Oliver, Ethan, Ben and Daletyn) move on to the State Group Championships in Egg Harbor.  Daletyn Harris and Ben Smith move on in Long Jump.  Two days of an emotional roller coaster with some better than expected performances, and some disappointments, including one missed race caused by the overlapping of field and running events.  Overall, however, we had a very good meet here.

On the girls side, Samantha (800 and 1600) and Ali (1600 and 3200) both ran two solid races in very poor conditions, and Angela ran a nice 400 yesterday.

Friday was raining almost all day often heavily, with strong northwest winds.  Today the wind was stronger but most of the day was dry.  We needed gloves both days on Memorial Day weekend on the Jersey Shore!

More when we have time to analyze the results, probably on Monday.

MORRIS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

DAY TWO
A second County Championship for Josiah, this one in the 3200. A very nice race on a day he was feeling a little bit off, winning in 9:23.56, in the first fast 3200 he has run this Spring. I think this is also his third best outdoor time.  Last year at this meet he ran 9:35, so we are in good shape heading into the State meets.  Josiah won both the 1600 and 3200 in the County meets indoors and out this year.

Besides Josiah, we again had a number of significant PRs and great performances.  Congratulations to all of our athletes for strong performances on these two days.

TCS RESULTS DAY TWO:
3200 Ali Champagne 13:02.03 PR (by 9 seconds) and School Record, breaking her own mark from ACSI.  Chosen by our blog as co-performance of the day.
3200 Josiah Hanko 9:23.56 County Champion
3200 Dan Larrazabal 10:42.29.  10 second PR.  Chosen by our blog as co-performance of the day.
Long Jump:  Daletyn Harris 18'7.5"  PR by 3 1/2 inches!
200 Oliver Budd 25.67.  I think his second best time
Discus:  Katherine Buckley 69'8".
800 Samantha Yamasaki 2:35.14 Another PR.  Great meet for Samantha.

==================================

DAY ONE ADDENDUM:  While the blog chose the 5:47.28 by Samantha as performance of the day, the astute coach failed to note that this was a School Record, breaking the prior mark of 5:48 set by Hannah Prol (now Falciola) in 2002.  Congratulations Samantha!!

5-1-13 MACSA SHS

A beautiful sunny day at Messiah College today and exceptional results from both the boys and girls teams.  Our boys were in a four way battle all day with Timothy Christian, Faith Christian Academy and Meadowbrook Christian, before pulling away late in the meet for a 22 point victory over second place Timothy.

Many story lines here, but everyone came up big and scored points where they were able.  Besides exceptional days from Josiah Hanko (winning 400, 800, 1600 and 3200) and Jonathan Campbell (wins in shot put and discus; second in javelin), we still scored 59 points from others for the victory.  Dan Larrazabal had a huge day, second in 3200, third in 1600 and fourth in 300 IH !!!  Ben Smith was third in 800 and fourth in triple jump; Daletyn Harris was fourth in 100; 7th in 200 and fifth in long jump; Oliver Budd was sixth in 100 and 8th in 200.  Greg Tanis, in his first meet at MACSA was 14th in Shot Put.  Andrew Justnes was 15th in Discus.  Seven Runners in our four relays accounted for 22 points (Seniors Andrew Justnes, Dan Larrazabal, and Ben Smith; sophomores Oliver Budd and Chris Rumeau; and freshmen Ethan Hastings and Iain Morrision).  A true team victory.  CONGRATULATIONS.

Our girls scored 52 points for third place.  This was our third year in a row of coming in third, with points going from 29 in 2011, to 47 in 2012, to 52 points this year.  Again, excellent performances all around for our seven girls. Samantha Yamasaki was 3rd in 1600, 4th in 800 and 5th in 3200.  Ali Champagne wasa 3rd in 3200 and 4th in 1600. Katherine Buckley was 3rd in Discus and 7th in Shot Put.  Angela Martone was 3rd in 400, 7th in 100 and 10th in 200.  Rachel Buckley was 7th in a PR in the 800 and Tabitha Harris was 8th in 100 and 11th in 200.  Anita Witten was 11th in Shot Put.  Our relay teams were 2nd (4x400); 3rd (4x200) and 4th (4x100).  Rachel Buckley contributed to all three relays, Ali, Katherine and Tabitha were in two and Angela, Anita and Samantha in one.

Congratulations one and all.  You made your coaches very proud of each one of you!
