MEET OF CHAMPIONS! Campbell 13 foot school record!

Josiah Hanko came in fourth in the 3200 Wednesday June 5 in what several commentators have stated was the race that stole the show Wednesday afternoon.  Josiah ran a 12 second PR, running 9:02.30.

Jonathan Campbell competed in two events.  He threw the discus a spectacular PR and School record of 146'5" to come in 24th overall.  An excellent 3 foot personal record on the biggest stage.  CONGRATULATIONS JONATHAN!!!!

NJSIAA Sectionals

Full results now available:  CLICK HERE

Three meet records for Josiah Hanko in the 800, 1600 and 3200.  Six more points than predicted for Jonathan Campbell (a third and a fourth for ten points).  Both our relay teams (4x800 Ben, Andrew, Iain and Dan; 4x100 Oliver, Ethan, Ben and Daletyn) move on to the State Group Championships in Egg Harbor.  Daletyn Harris and Ben Smith move on in Long Jump.  Two days of an emotional roller coaster with some better than expected performances, and some disappointments, including one missed race caused by the overlapping of field and running events.  Overall, however, we had a very good meet here.

On the girls side, Samantha (800 and 1600) and Ali (1600 and 3200) both ran two solid races in very poor conditions, and Angela ran a nice 400 yesterday.

Friday was raining almost all day often heavily, with strong northwest winds.  Today the wind was stronger but most of the day was dry.  We needed gloves both days on Memorial Day weekend on the Jersey Shore!

More when we have time to analyze the results, probably on Monday.

MORRIS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOYS FULL RESULTS: CLICK HERE
GIRLS FULL RESULTS: CLICK HERE

DAY TWO
A second County Championship for Josiah, this one in the 3200. A very nice race on a day he was feeling a little bit off, winning in 9:23.56, in the first fast 3200 he has run this Spring. I think this is also his third best outdoor time.  Last year at this meet he ran 9:35, so we are in good shape heading into the State meets.  Josiah won both the 1600 and 3200 in the County meets indoors and out this year.

Besides Josiah, we again had a number of significant PRs and great performances.  Congratulations to all of our athletes for strong performances on these two days.

TCS RESULTS DAY TWO:
3200 Ali Champagne 13:02.03 PR (by 9 seconds) and School Record, breaking her own mark from ACSI.  Chosen by our blog as co-performance of the day.
3200 Josiah Hanko 9:23.56 County Champion
3200 Dan Larrazabal 10:42.29.  10 second PR.  Chosen by our blog as co-performance of the day.
Long Jump:  Daletyn Harris 18'7.5"  PR by 3 1/2 inches!
200 Oliver Budd 25.67.  I think his second best time
Discus:  Katherine Buckley 69'8".
800 Samantha Yamasaki 2:35.14 Another PR.  Great meet for Samantha.

==================================

DAY ONE ADDENDUM:  While the blog chose the 5:47.28 by Samantha as performance of the day, the astute coach failed to note that this was a School Record, breaking the prior mark of 5:48 set by Hannah Prol (now Falciola) in 2002.  Congratulations Samantha!!

==================================

DAY ONE:
Spectacular results at the Morris County meet today in Boonton.  Many PRs for our athletes, and a County Championship for Josiah Hanko in the 1600 in a PR of 4:16.38.

TCS RESULTS DAY ONE:
Field Results
Jonathan Campbell Javelin 146'6", Season best!
Triple Jump Ben Smith 36'1.75" PR by almost two feet!
Discus Jonathan Campbell 127'7" second best this season
1600 Samantha Yamasaki 5:47.28 BIG PR (12 seconds!).  Chosen by our blog as performance of the day..
1600 Ali Champagne 5:58.05 second best time ever
1600 Dan Larrazabal 4:51.70 BIG PR
1600 Josiah Hanko 4:16.38 Three second PR and County Champion in the 1600.  As best as we can tell, it makes Josiah the number 3 performer in the State this year in the 1600.  Check HERE tomorrow to see if I am right.  (now posted as number 1, but two converted times from mile are faster; so number 3 is correct)
400 Angela Martone 66.09, Season Best!
400 Daletyn Harris 54.89 BIG PR
400 Ben Smith 55.13, yet another PR
100 Daletyn Harris 12.13, second best this season
100 Oliver Budd 12.74, second best ever

5-1-13 MACSA SHS

A beautiful sunny day at Messiah College today and exceptional results from both the boys and girls teams.  Our boys were in a four way battle all day with Timothy Christian, Faith Christian Academy and Meadowbrook Christian, before pulling away late in the meet for a 22 point victory over second place Timothy.

Many story lines here, but everyone came up big and scored points where they were able.  Besides exceptional days from Josiah Hanko (winning 400, 800, 1600 and 3200) and Jonathan Campbell (wins in shot put and discus; second in javelin), we still scored 59 points from others for the victory.  Dan Larrazabal had a huge day, second in 3200, third in 1600 and fourth in 300 IH !!!  Ben Smith was third in 800 and fourth in triple jump; Daletyn Harris was fourth in 100; 7th in 200 and fifth in long jump; Oliver Budd was sixth in 100 and 8th in 200.  Greg Tanis, in his first meet at MACSA was 14th in Shot Put.  Andrew Justnes was 15th in Discus.  Seven Runners in our four relays accounted for 22 points (Seniors Andrew Justnes, Dan Larrazabal, and Ben Smith; sophomores Oliver Budd and Chris Rumeau; and freshmen Ethan Hastings and Iain Morrision).  A true team victory.  CONGRATULATIONS.

Our girls scored 52 points for third place.  This was our third year in a row of coming in third, with points going from 29 in 2011, to 47 in 2012, to 52 points this year.  Again, excellent performances all around for our seven girls. Samantha Yamasaki was 3rd in 1600, 4th in 800 and 5th in 3200.  Ali Champagne wasa 3rd in 3200 and 4th in 1600. Katherine Buckley was 3rd in Discus and 7th in Shot Put.  Angela Martone was 3rd in 400, 7th in 100 and 10th in 200.  Rachel Buckley was 7th in a PR in the 800 and Tabitha Harris was 8th in 100 and 11th in 200.  Anita Witten was 11th in Shot Put.  Our relay teams were 2nd (4x400); 3rd (4x200) and 4th (4x100).  Rachel Buckley contributed to all three relays, Ali, Katherine and Tabitha were in two and Angela, Anita and Samantha in one.

Congratulations one and all.  You made your coaches very proud of each one of you!

4-10-13 JHS Meet at New Brunswick Middle School

4-11-13 Update.  Full times/distances now available.  CLICK HERE
===== ===== ===== ===== ==== ===== =====
4-10-13.  Five teams competed here today, as we begin the Coach Josh Nelson era of TCS Track. New Brunswick Middle School, Wardlaw Hartridge, Calvary Christian of Old Bridge, NJ, and Crossroads Middle School of South Brunswick (which only brought two buses, so they did not have their full team of 140 athletes!)

Full results will be posted when we receive them, but comparing our first meet this year to the first meet last year showed significantly better performances in several events.

Thanks to the many parents and friends who came out to watch and support our team!  Congrats to Coach Nelson for a great first meet!

Will post personal records as we have time. Significant PRs for Peter Yamasaki, Danny Champagne and Sammy Gao in 800 and 1600.  Very encouraging races also from newcomers Nicholas Yamasaki, Matt Zecca and Nikita Sionios in those events as well.  In fact, the first five for us in the boys 1600 ran faster than any junior high boy did all last year.  This evening I do not have most of the results so if you are not mentioned, it is because the results are still being compiled.

Special thanks to the injured Karlea Zazopoulos who cheerfully compiled a lot of the field event results.

State Group Information

Jim Lambert's Preview of the Meet from the Star Ledger:  CLICK HERE
===============================

TCS will be competing in the State Group Meet this Friday and Saturday.  At this point, we expect the following to compete:

Friday:  Josiah Hanko in 1600
Saturday:  Jonathan Campbell in Discus and Javelin
Saturday:  Aaron Hanko in Triple Jump
Saturday:  Josiah Hanko in 3200
Saturday:  Our 4x400 relay team.

There may be changes or additions.  For instance Josiah also qualified in 400 and 800 but we do not expect him at this point to compete in those events.  We may change based on race-day conditions and entries.

Some who have qualified will not be competing.  For instance, Paul Sullivan qualified in both high jump and long jump but his knee injury prevents him from competing in this meet.

The meet program/performance lists may be found here:  CLICK HERE

Directions to the venue for this meet:

SOUTH PLAINFIELD: FRANK JOST FIELD
1. GSP South exit 135 - make the first right on Central Av (towards Westfield)
2. Make a quick left on Raritan Rd (CR 607)
3. After you cross Rahway River bridge (about a mile) bear right to stay on CR 607 (now it's Oak Ridge Rd). You will pass a golf course on your right and enter Middlesex County
4. Make a right at the end of the road onto Inman Ave for about 2 miles
5. At the end of Inman make a left on Old Raritan Rd (CR 509), which after intersection with Park Ave becomes Maple Ave. The track is on the left 2 blocks after Park Ave.

NOTE WHEN COMING BACK: Oak Ridge Rd actually becomes Feather Bed La in Middlesex Co. (so look for that name when coming back on Inman).
