State Group Information

Jim Lambert's Preview of the Meet from the Star Ledger:  CLICK HERE
===============================

TCS will be competing in the State Group Meet this Friday and Saturday.  At this point, we expect the following to compete:

Friday:  Josiah Hanko in 1600
Saturday:  Jonathan Campbell in Discus and Javelin
Saturday:  Aaron Hanko in Triple Jump
Saturday:  Josiah Hanko in 3200
Saturday:  Our 4x400 relay team.

There may be changes or additions.  For instance Josiah also qualified in 400 and 800 but we do not expect him at this point to compete in those events.  We may change based on race-day conditions and entries.

Some who have qualified will not be competing.  For instance, Paul Sullivan qualified in both high jump and long jump but his knee injury prevents him from competing in this meet.

The meet program/performance lists may be found here:  CLICK HERE

Directions to the venue for this meet:

SOUTH PLAINFIELD: FRANK JOST FIELD
1. GSP South exit 135 - make the first right on Central Av (towards Westfield)
2. Make a quick left on Raritan Rd (CR 607)
3. After you cross Rahway River bridge (about a mile) bear right to stay on CR 607 (now it's Oak Ridge Rd). You will pass a golf course on your right and enter Middlesex County
4. Make a right at the end of the road onto Inman Ave for about 2 miles
5. At the end of Inman make a left on Old Raritan Rd (CR 509), which after intersection with Park Ave becomes Maple Ave. The track is on the left 2 blocks after Park Ave.

NOTE WHEN COMING BACK: Oak Ridge Rd actually becomes Feather Bed La in Middlesex Co. (so look for that name when coming back on Inman).

Great overall team results. Special thanks to Robert Wis for exceptional field event coaching (half of our points!).

Injury Analysis and Treatment

We have developed a number of good contacts over the years for running related injuries.  We recommend the following:

Physical therapy, and injury analysis:  Ryan P. Skripak of Montville Physical Therapy:  CLICK HERE
Dr. Skripak (D.P.T.) has successfully treated Josiah Hanko, and my own daughter, Danielle, many years ago.

Foot injuries and structural correction (when needed):  Dr. Richard Braver (podiatrist):  CLICK HERE
Dr. Braver is in his Riverdale office on Thursdays.  He has treated many of our athletes over the years.

March Practice Schedule Amended

March 2012 Practice Information

2012 Practice Information for March:  AMENDED!!!

Scheduled practices are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, roughly 3:15 to 4:45, and Saturday mornings (see below). PLEASE DO NOT ASK TO PICK UP YOUR STUDENT UNTIL PRACTICE IS OVER. With only three days of practice per week, we need every minute of these practices.

We will have organized sessions after school two days per week, on Tuesday and Thursday. If others can help on those days, please let me know (as soon as possible!). We will usually have some students at TCS and some at Montville HS during these practices. Students are expected to attend all practices unless excused by the coaching staff. If there are regular scheduling problems (e.g., a job) let us know and we will work something out.

Saturday practices will again be at 8:30 a.m. sharp on Saturday mornings at Montville High School for both teams . PLEASE DROP THEM OFF SO THEY CAN BEGIN WARMING UP PROMPTLY AT THE TIMES NOTED. PRACTICES WILL GENERALLY END AT 10:00 ON COLD OR RAINY DAYS and in the beginning of the season, and by 10:30 on other days. Please be prompt in picking up your students at those times. Note this policy: If a student is not picked up at the time the workout ends, he/she will be taken to TCS and dropped off to wait indoors in the school lobby to be picked up. This ensures that the athletes will not be out in the cold for too long, and also allows those of the coaching staff to lead a (more) normal life! Thus, if you come to pick up your athlete and he/she is not there, proceed to TCS.

ACSI !

Perhaps the single best overall day in the history of TCS Track. Not only did our Senior High Boys, Junior High Girls and Junior High Boys win their small school divisions, each also won the meet overall with the most points of any school in each of these divisions. MVPs for Daletyn Harris (first in 100 and 200, second in 400 and LJ) and Leah Wis (first in SP, Discus, High Jump [to seal the victory in the last event of the day], third in 800). Spectacular days for many including Josiah Hanko (first in 1600 and 3200), Paul Sullivan (first in 400), Jonathan Campbell (two very important wins, SP and Discus); Sarah Hansen and Lydia Harris; Marcus Prol and Oliver Budd; Aaron Hanko, Dan Larrazabal and Ben Smith; Hannah Campbell (a win in the 1600) and Rachel Buckley; Angela Martone and Katherine Buckley, Chris Rumeau, and I am sure I am missing significant performances. Such as all of our scoring relay teams and their members.

Well done! This was the essence of a team victory with many contributing to the final scores for each of our teams.

05-04-11 MACSA Senior High

COMPLETE RESULTS CLICK HERE

A great day for TCS Track at Messiah College today, in less than ideal conditions. The meet had been threatened with flash flood warnings and some throwing events were canceled. There was a steady rain until noon or so and then broke for most of the afternoon.

Our boys team won our division of 16 schools, scoring 118 points (the final tally may differ slightly); with second place coming in at 63. We won everything on the track from the 400 to the 3200, the long jump and triple jump. Spectacular breakthrough race for Dan Larrazabal, coming in fourth in the 3200 with 20+ second PR. Wins for Paul Sullivan (400, 800, Long Jump); Josiah Hanko (1600, 3200); Aaron Hanko (Triple Jump); seconds for Jonathan Campbell (Shot Put); Ben Smith (800); Aaron Hanko (1600). Jonathan Campbell was 4th in 200; 4th in 400; and Ben Smith was third in the triple jump. Our 4x2 relay was second and our 4x4 relay finished off with a strong win at the end of the meet. A great day.

Our girls team of three came in third overall out of the 16 teams in our division. Katherine Buckley ran a strong race for second in the 3200(!); Angela Martone was second in the 400, third in the 100 and 6th in the Long Jump. Tabitha Harris was just outside of scoring, taking 7th in the Long Jump and 400. We had other points that I will post when I get the full meet results.

5-03-11 MACSA Junior High

The TCS Junior High Team competed at the MACSA meet at Messiah College. The boys team won the team championship, and the girls team, while scoring more points than the boys, came in second (of 15 schools). Our friends from Faith had a great day in taking the girls team championship. Our sincere congratulations to Jeff Eberhardt for the great job he has done there in four years.

Leah Wis won four events (SP, Discus, HJ and 800). Marcus Prol won the 800 and 1600. Daletyn Harris won the 400 and LJ (and was second in the 100 and 200); and a host of others had memorable days, including Oliver Budd, Sarah Hansen, Chris Rumeau, and others who we will post when we list all of the individual results (forgive me if I missed some important result here!).

National Christian School Athletic Association 4/30/11 Meet

Brief report from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The TCS Track team took the boys high school team and selected other athletes to the NCSAA national meet at Geneva College on Saturday April 30, 2011. The drive, especially coming home, was long. Our athletes did very well.

As with MACSA and ACSI, there are large school and small school divisions at NCSAA. Our boys high school team score the most points in the entire meet by a large margin. Our junior high girls also won their meet (we brought three athletes in this division) and Marcus Prol, our junior high boys team, came in second. Our two high schools girls also did well in their events.

Individual results will be posted later. However, we should point out that Paul Sullivan was High School Boys MVP (30.5 points) and Leah Wis was Junior High Girls MVP (36 points!). A spectcular day for Aaron Hanko with PRs in 800 and 1600 and a win (!) in the Triple Jump.

More when we process all meet results.
