Team Summary since May 5, 2007

At ACSI we took first, second, third and fourth (in senior high men, senior high women, middle school boys and middle school girls respectively).

At MACSA we took three firsts (high school men and women and middle school girls) and a third (boys middle school).

Andrew Hanko won both the 1600 and 3200 at Morris County Championships, both in meet record times.

Andrew Hanko and Claire Sullivan set new school 3200 records at the Morris County Championships. Before that, Sarah Jay had set the 3200 record at ACSI. She has the distinction of having the shortest lived record in TCS History (five days). Andrew Hanko set the new school 1600 record at ACSI (4:13.07). Ally Holmes set records in the 100 (the FAT record) (lest you ask: Fully Automated Timing) and in the 200 and 400 during these meets.

At the County Seat Invitational at Wayne Hills HS, our High School Boys team came in fifth overall out of over 20 schools, all much larger than we are.

Morris County Meet Postponed until Thursday

The second day of the Morris County Championships has been postponed until tomorrow (Thursday May 17) because of the predicted thunderstorms.

Great results from Trinity on the first day. Andrew Hanko won the 1600 in meet record time (4:14.26).

Short Summary of the Last Week

Impressive results from High School and Junior High Teams this week. Junior High Girls win MACSA Invitational and Boys come in third (out of 21 schools in our division). Senior High Boys and Girls both score large wins (out of 20 and 19 schools respectively). Triple wins from Ally Holmes and Andrew Hanko; and both run strong anchor legs on 4 x 400 relays. As a result, we are looking for more athletes with the initials "AH." More impressive was the depth we showed, with virtually every athlete contributing to the high school team wins.

On the junior high girls team, we had excellent results from Melannie Fields, Jen Buckley and Katherine Buckley. Matt Wis, Paul Sullivan and Jonathan Campbell excelled for the boys with our usual core group of distance runners scoring as well. If I am forgetting some strong performances, it is only because I am doing this from memory without any notes in front of me.

With meets Saturday for both teams with meet leadership responsibilities; Monday for Junior High at Silver Spike Invitational; and Tuesday/Wednesday for Morris County Championships for the high school teams, we will be updating the blog towards the end of next week.

On a personal note, each of the teams wrote notes to our friends Dan and Priscilla Haynes after the meets. The notes were precious and personal sentiments that reflect that we are learning many things as a team as we continue to enter into this long-term trial with them. Very good times all around here, as we await official results. For the boys: Tentatively, Personal Records for Stephen Choi in 800 and 1600; Jared Freire in 400 (53.9!!); Tim Justnes in 1600; and Peter Smith with 2:07.9 in the 800. Outdoor PRs for Andrew Hanko (4:18.3) and Jared Hanko in 1600. Close to School Record 4 x 400 relay.

For the girls, big PRs for Sarah Jay in the 1600 for Claire Sullivan in the 1600 and 3200.

Alumnus sets PR in 800

Fully recovered from a year of frustrating injuries, Shawn McKinstry of Hillsdale College ran 1:54.16 to finish second in the GLIAC Conference Championships. More details to follow Monday.

UPDATE: So here we are in Mechanicsburg, PA, getting ready for the MACSA Middle School meet. My daughter Danielle is back from Baylor (I picked her up at the airport on the way here). I am printing out entries for tomorrow, and results from Saturday, and she sees this post about Shawn, and points out that no new details followed on Monday.

So, here is the update, albeit 25 minutes late: Shawn ran 1:57.xx on Friday to qualify for the finals and ran a great race on Saturday. It was very windy, and Shawn tucked in behind people and kicked with 200 to go, passing a few and ending up second with his PR noted above. He was named second team all-conference as a result.

TCS Track does indeed have a hectic day planned for tomorrow.

Coaches Hanko & Wis are planning to leave with the junior high team from TCS at 11:45AM. Any questions about driving or rides should be directed to Coach Hanko, since he is now in possession of the driver information.

Coaches Chris & Jen Lee (and Priscilla Haynes?) plan to bring the senior high team to Wayne Hills HS, leaving TCS at 8:00AM SHARP! It will likely take about half an hour to drive up to the meet. Several of the juniors and seniors on the team will be arriving late with permission. (They will of course need to provide their own transportation.)
